Urgent Action Alert: Write to Adem Uzun, Kurdish political prisoner

Dear friends,

On 6 October last year, Kurdish political campaigner, strategist and leading member of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK), Adem Uzun, was arrested by French authorities as he prepared to attend a major conference in the French parliament to discuss the future of the Kurds in Syria (background information attached). He was not granted bail and remained in prison over the period of Christmas and the New Year.

The KNK, Peace in Kurdistan Campaign, CAMPACC, the Kurdish Human Rights Action Group (KHRAG) and the EU Turkey Civic Commission (EUTCC) have all already issued statements demanding his release, and efforts to campaign for the French authorities to drop the charges and release him are ongoing.

In the meantime, however, we appeal to everyone to write Adem a card or letter that expresses solidarity with him, and offers him support while he is forced to stay behind bars. We know that a gesture of this kind would provide him with great comfort and strength, so we hope that you take the time to show your support!

Please send to postcard to the following address

Attention personnelle de M. Adem UZUN
(en état de détention provisoire)
Maison d'arrêt "La Santé"

Thank you,

Friends of Adem Uzun
